Great Results Funding


The Minister for Education, Training and Employment announced $131 million in additional state school funding under the Great Results Guarantee.

The funding will be used by schools to develop evidence-based strategies that respond to the needs of students and deliver improved outcomes.

Under this agreement for 2014, Narangba State School will receive $200,141.

With this funding, our school will commit to:

.Guarantee that all students achieve NAPLAN national minimum standards in Year 3, 5 and 7 in reading or there will be individual performance plans in place for all students that are identified at risk of not achieving this standard.
· Ensure 45% or above of Year 3 students achieve in the upper two bands of NAPLAN.
· Develop the capacity of instructional leaders, teachers and teacher aides to improve student learning outcomes through the provision of:
1. Ongoing professional development to improve the teaching of reading aligned with our school reading program.
2. Focussed coaching and feedback processes to improve the quality and consistency of reading lessons.
3. The continued implementation of the Art and Science of Teaching as our pedagogical framework to ensure consistent evidence based teaching practices are implemented in every classroom.

Our Strategy will be
1: Build the capacity of our staff to deliver evidence based excellence in the teaching of reading.
2: Build productive partnerships with parents, carers and wider community.
3: Strengthen the targeted teaching, support and intervention for all students based upon the effective use of quantifiable data.
Our school will improve student outcomes by
· Increase ST (L&N) to two full time positions with a clear focus on strengthening staff capability through observations and feedback, early diagnosis, targeted intervention, and the targeted utilisation of teacher aide time. Increased targeted observation and mentoring time for Head of Curriculum.

· Employment of additional teacher aides to support explicit teaching of reading $50 000
· Purchase of Reading Resources to support our existing reading program with home readers, improve our stocks of levelled readers $15 000
· Purchase of additional SLP hours to provide targeted speech intervention $3000
· Activities to engage parents and wider community with ‘Sounds to Letters’ and ‘Ready Readers’ and strong partnerships with local childcare providers $2000
